John Willson Gilley

In 1974 I was admitted to the Maryland Bar while serving as the Claims Manager for the Indianapolis office of the Fidelity & Deposit Company of Maryland. Working in the field of construction bonding taught me a great deal about construction law. When I returned to Maryland, a position opened for an assistant house counsel for an electric company in Salisbury, Maryland. There, under the tuteledge of a great lawyer and friend, I worked up and down the "shore" handling zoning hearings as well as Public Service Commission matters that included rate payer claims and utility regulation issues. Along the way, consulting for insurance companies facing large construction projects allowed me to troubleshoot large construction programs, failed contractors and defunct bonding companies. Being a generalist at heart, I also became a panel attorney with the Office of the Public Defender, which allowed my to serve the public and begin working in the field criminal law. The cases I've handled include in part DUI's, Drug felonies, Domestic Violence, First Degree Assaults auto theft, and simple shoplifting. People charged with crimes are often good people caught up in a bad situation. I ADVISE ANYONE ACCUSED OF A CRIME TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEIR RIGHT AS AFFORDED BY OUR CONSTITUTION-REMAIN SILENT.
