I retained Stephanie Scales for my son in a child custody and support matter after an existing custody agreement was violated in July 2025. After paying approximately $9,000, there has been no progress toward restoring the original agreement. Communication has been extremely poor. Questions are me...t with additional charges, sometimes several hundred dollars, without meaningful progress. We were repeatedly asked to provide documentation for the opposing party, yet no reciprocal paperwork was provided to us. Without prior discussion, a contempt hearing scheduled for February was moved to June, significantly delaying my son’s ability to see his daughter. This decision was made without prior consultation or explanation. I was also charged $250 for an email explaining that I was not the client, despite being the party paying the legal fees. I was informed that I would not be permitted to be present when she spoke with my son, even after attorney-client privilege was expressly waived. In a high-conflict custody matter, being excluded from providing support after paying substantial fees was concerning. Based on my experience, this firm prioritizes billing over communication and results.
