Thomas D Kohn

Tom graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1983 and earned his J.D. in 1986 from the University Of Maryland School Of Law.

Tom focuses his practice on Business and Corporate Law, Civil and Commercial Litigation and Franchise Law. During his career, Tom has developed both the business and legal skills which allow him to anticipate client needs before adverse legal consequences arise.  Tom's experience in the areas of business law and litigation allow him to assist business owners and corporate leaders in navigating the complicated issues they face in today's constantly changing business environment.  Mr. Kohn is chair of the law firm's business and corporation practice.

Mr. Kohn devotes a significant portion of his practice to working with private health care providers, specifically dentists, orthodontists and other medical specialists, to develop fair and efficient strategies for the profitable creation, operation and, ultimately, sale of professional practices.  He assists clients with practice formation, partner relations, hiring of associates, practice growth and management, purchase and sale of existing practices, and startups of new or expanding practices.

Beginning in 2007 and for each year thereafter, Tom has selected as a Maryland Super Lawyer in the area of Business and Corporate law, an honor afforded to only five percent (5%) of Maryland attorneys each year.

A Baltimore native, Mr. Kohn is, and has been, active with many community and charitable organizations. His current activities include membership on the Board of Directors of the Baltimore Jewish Community Center, the Community Advisory Board of WYPR Radio and the Technology Committee of the Bar Association of Baltimore City. He is also a regular contributor to Dentaltown Magazine and a frequent lecturer with regard to various aspects of business ownership, management and growth. 

His wife, Dr. Shari C. Kohn, is a pediatric dentist in private practice in Hunt Valley, Maryland. Together, they are raising two children, Rachel and A.J., and a Golden Retriever, Penny.
