After paying a retainer fee of $2500, Mr. Berry told me he'd email me a draft of my divorce complaint. I waited over a month after receiving nothing to call and inquire what had happened. Laura, his paralegal, told me to look through my emails for it. I called back when I couldn't find evidence of an...y correspondence from Peter Berry. She said he'd email it to me again. Five days later, still nothing. When I emailed him directly, he finally sent it the next day containing another child's name, not my own child's name. After claiming he'd file my divorce papers within a week, he neglected my case for over 2 months until I finally called to inquire what had happened once again. He said the court was holding up the process but that he could not explain why because "I just wouldn't understand." However, he later admitted to the Attorney Grievance Commission that he misplaced my file in the process of moving his office. I had enough of his lack of concern for me and my son and wanted my money back. Peter Berry gave me a "courtesy" refund of a few hundred dollars, but kept $1000 for doing virtually nothing except keep me from sleeping, worried about why he would treat a client so disrespectfully. If I could give 0 stars, I would. He failed to work with due diligence, failed to keep me informed about my case, paid little attention to detail, and acted deceitfully and condescending toward me.
