Amazingly helpful

When I left my husband and made it clear I didn't feel safe around him anymore, he left work early and showed up at my daughter's house before I got there. She let me know and I was able to wait until he got tired and left peacefully before going there, but it was terrifying. My daughter convinced me... to file for a protective order after hours that night (Monday), but I was so flustered I know I didn't do a good job of filling out the paperwork. I went to the first hearing (wednesday) by myself, and the judge sounded like I didn't have cause to be granted the permanent decree, he said I would get one for a week and would have the final hearing next week where my husband could be there. I had Mary recommended to me, and even though I hadn't decided if I needed a divorce or if we could still save the marriage, I reached out for help with the protective order. Mary was SO helpful! She explained the process to me, helped me figure out what parts of our relationship would be useful to mention for the protective order, talked me through what my options were for planning a divorce, and was just really responsive. It took several weeks for my husband to be served by the police, and she was able to get me a waiver of appearance so I didn't have to appear every week. Mary talked to my daughter and prepared her to give testimony of how my husband was when he showed up unexpectedly in case he decided to contest the order. When he was finally served a few weeks later, it was on Tuesday afternoon that we found out that we would need to be there Wednesday morning. Mary even wrote an email to my daughter's supervisor at work explaining the situation and offering to get a subpoena if necessary for her not to get in trouble for taking time off to go with me! She was at the courthouse before us, talking to my husband, and told us to go ahead into the courtroom so we wouldn't have to interact with him. He was agitated, so much so that after the judge ruled he called her up to see what was going on, but she still managed to get him to agree to everything, I got to keep using my car, kept my dog, and he wasn't allowed to bother me for a year, which will give me the time to establish separation for the divorce. I highly recommend talking to Mary, especially if you need help with separation and haven't decided if you need to move forward with a divorce or want to try counseling. I was worried that a divorce attorney would be expecting me to move forward with a divorce and be pushing me to do so, but Mary was perfect, she listened to all of my concerns and even made sure while she was talking to him to check if my husband would consider getting therapy to work on our relationship, but he shut that down as always. Mary even took time out of her day to sit with me to make sure I was safe and my husband left after the hearing, because I was waiting on my ride home. I can't recommend her enough!
