While we are sorry to hear that the former client was unhappy with our services, we feel the need to correct the record. Every case is unique based on the facts and circumstances provided and the former client’s case was no exception. Client presented significant issues that extended over multiple years. We met with the client for over an hour; client paid a retainer for representation; and client communicated his desire to begin immediately. Work began immediately; materials were initially reviewed and organized; related proposed documents were drafted; and a plan of action formulated. Only after initial work was commenced did client communicate his decision to discontinue the representation. Client received an invoice for our services. Client was billed only a portion of the time our firm spent on the representation. Client contacted us; requested that we represent him; and asserted that he would pay for our services. All client property and remaining retainer were returned immediately after representation ceased. At no time was it suggested or stated to the client that the initial meeting or our work was a “free consultation.” We hope that the former client can resolve his legal issues.
