Gerard T McDonough

After graduating from Georgetown University in 1968 I enrolled in the Marine Corp Officer Candidate School. I served as an active-duty Naval Flight Officer flying the Phantom F-4 until enrolling in Law School in 1979 while serving on the Prince George's County Council.  After graduating law school and passing the Maryland bar in 1982, I worked as a partner in Zanecki, Lalley and McDonough for the next 10 years specializing in land use, planning and zoning . After my stint with Zanecki, Lalley and McDonough I opened a solo practice law firm again specializing in land use, planning and zoning but also diversifying into a general practice of law.

I then spent 8 years as the Real Property Administrator to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources acting as general counsel charged with resolving encroachments on State lands.

I then returned to the private practice of law again as a solo practitioner concentrating more on real estate and construction contract law and transactions along with litigation of the same representing as counsel for a substantial real estate development and management company based in Columbia, Howard County, Maryland in the acquisition, development, improvement, construction and management of commercial and industrial properties as well as its residential building division. I also represented clients in multiple real estate contract and construction and property management litigation cases. Today I am again back to the solo practice of law operating an office in Anne Arundel County and diversified my practice performing many of the same legal services for smaller real estate developers and builders but also providing full legal services to smaller commercial companies in all types of businesses advising and assisting them in the formal legal formation and ongoing management of their companies and businesses and in their purchases and sales of businesses, as well the negotiation and drafting of their commercial leases and employment law and any necessary collections actions.

I continue to represent individuals in Family Law matters such as Divorce, and Custody proceedings, Adoption and Petitions for Guardianship, Wills and Estate and Trust Matters including the Probate of Decedent’s Estates, which has also led me to expand my legal services to individuals in senior law and collection defense matters. And, having reduced my overhead I can now offer affordable professional legal services to those individuals who have been underserved as they otherwise might not be able to afford the legal representation to which they are entitled under law.
