Would recommend his services to others.
My case consisted of a DUI and a 2nd degree assault charge, both stemming from the same incident/night.
I shopped around before settling on a lawyer, and in my research, I got turned off from all of the bigger firms because of their brusque attitudes and insanely high rates.
I happened to receive... a flyer in the mail with Mr. Madden's practice information, and my interest was perked by the fact that he actually has flexible hours, including Saturdays.
With the initial call, I was sold. He took the time to talk to me in detail about my case, told me exactly what the fees would be to retain his services, and gave me the rundown on what our likely course of action would be. I was able to pay via credit card over the phone, and he mailed me the retainer documents and receipts.
With the DUI, my ability to commute was crippled, along with childcare responsibilities, I really can't stress how helpful it was to have an attorney that didn't drag me out to his office to discuss the case.
On to the case, he was able to have my DUI and 2nd degree assault charge consolidated onto one docket, in one courtroom, handled at the same time with the same judge. I didn't do myself any favors during the process of my arrest, chattering away to the officers, giving them a pretty solid case against me.
Mr. Madden was extraordinarily tolerant. Even when I failed to heed his (repeated!!) insistence that I complete an alcohol program, he still worked with me to present the situation to the court in the best possible light.
He responded (timely) to all e-mails, text messages, and phone calls, and all calls were always informative and detailed. I never felt like I was being brushed aside or disregarded.
On the court date, he presented my case to the judge in the best way possible. On my own, as nervous as I was, and as bad as the situation looked, I likely would be sitting in a jail cell right now. To be clear, it wasn't a matter of guilt by any means, I screwed up. It was about damage mitigation, making things better with minimal consequence. 2nd degree assault in Maryland carries a maximum of two years, it's not something I'd take chances with.
The end result was probation before judgement (PBJ) for both charges, with monitored probation, and a couple of minor requirements. He indicated if that I need his assistance in having the 2nd degree assault expunged off my record in three years that he'd be happy to help me through that process.
100% professionalism, all the way through. Did he occasionally have things to say that I didn't want to hear? Absolutely. Did my tender feelings get hurt once or twice? Probably. But I didn't hire him to tell me what I want to hear, I hired him to help me fix my situation with the best possible outcome, and he delivered.
Honestly, even when he was delivering (much needed) criticism of my situation, you could tell that it was with my best interests in mind.
If you find yourself in need of counsel, I'd recommend Mr. Madden in a heartbeat. Hopefully, I won't have need of legal services (of this nature) in the future, but if I did, his would be the first number that I would call.
