Rolando Julio Aleman

R. Julio Aleman concentrates his practice on criminal defense and related matters, representing clients facing serious traffic charges, peace and protective orders, and administrative hearings arising from alleged legal violations. His extensive courtroom experience began soon after his admission to the Maryland State Bar Association, where he quickly became known for his skill in managing complex criminal and traffic cases.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Aleman has achieved acquittals in a wide range of disputes. In 2011, he represented a Montgomery County mother accused of 134 counts of prescription fraud; more than one hundred counts were dismissed, and the jury found her not guilty on the remaining charges. That same year, he successfully defended a woman at an MVA hearing who faced the loss of her license after refusing a breathalyzer test—allowing her to retain her driving privileges.

From 2013 to 2015, Mr. Aleman worked as a lawyer and lobbyist for The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. In that role, he gained valuable insight into the legislative process, conducting research and helping shape statutory reforms. During this time, he also prosecuted an Internal Affairs case against a Park police officer accused of misconduct and defended the commission in personal injury claims.

Since returning to criminal defense in 2015, Mr. Aleman has continued to secure strong results for his clients, including a full acquittal in a DUI case involving a police cruiser, the preservation of a bar’s license following a brief suspension, and a not-guilty verdict in a sex abuse and second-degree rape case. In 2017, he persuaded the State to dismiss attempted first-degree murder charges against his client in Anne Arundel County.

A native of El Salvador, Mr. Aleman has lived in Rockville, Maryland since the age of ten. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2003, and his Juris Doctor from Penn State Dickinson Law in 2008.
