Biography

I am Susan Eleff, an attorney with over forty years of experience in estate planning, business transactions and commercial and residential real estate matters. I welcome new clients in the areas where I practice, and make every effort to provide outstanding service. My estate planning practice includes the preparation of wills, trust agreements, family limited partnerships with planned gifting, powers of attorney, and medical directives. I formulate comprehensive plans to address tax aspects, asset protection and business succession, in accordance with clients' needs and priorities.

My transaction practice extends to a broad range of matters, including corporate, partnership and limited liability company start-ups, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and reorganizations, private placement of securities, buy-sell and employment agreements, secured transactions and intercreditor agreements, work-outs and refinancings.

My real estate work encompasses property acquisitions, sales, development, financing, tax-free exchanges, leasing, restrictive covenant and easement agreements for retail, office, industrial, residential, condominium and mixed-use properties, including big box and shopping center developments, office buildings, raw land, and other real estate. I have also handled trial and appellate litigation on adverse possession cases in the Maryland state courts.

I am admitted to practice in Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Illinois. I am a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, and was a Benjamin Franklin Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania, receiving my B.A. there in two years after high school, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, with honors in my major, Economics, where I was awarded the Shanbaum Prize (top Economics graduate). I have been rated "AV Preeminent" in the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings, the highest rating by that service.

We were extremely pleased with the personal services Susan provided in preparing our wills, POAs, and AMDs. Once we got the process going, Susan was extremely responsive and prepared our documents. She was very thorough. She answered multiple questions about the language of the will in a manner th...at simplified any confusion we had with what was written up. Finally, she arranged for our signing to be at a past partner's office in a location that accomodated us locally. Her fees were reasonable especially compared to other estate lawyers that we looked into locally.

Amazing probate attorney

I highly recommend Susan Eleff for all legal matters related to estate planning based on the fact that she is incredibly bright, she’s honest but in a professional and amiable manner and most importantly, she’s one of the best attorneys in this area. She was extremely helpful in assisting me with a ...fairly complicated estate and I felt fully confident with her advice and guidance knowing that I could trust her input 24/7. There are numerous probate attorneys in this area but I guarantee if you retain Susan, you will have the best legal representation possible and know that you made the right decision!

Peace of mind

Ms. Elleff assisted my husband and myself in updating our 'Sweetheart' Last Will and Testaments, as well as our Advanced Medical Directives and Powers of Attorney. She answered our questions in language we could understand and was responsive to our needs and wishes. The questionnaire she had us compl...ete made the process much easier than what we had experienced before, and the final documents she provided made it easy to distribute to our executors and agents. My feeling at the end of the process was one of having peace of mind.
