Awesome and expert divorce, custody, and child support attorney

Valeria Tomlin was God sent for me and my 2 African American sons. Valeria was able to overcome each and every legal loophole thrown at us by the opposing team… I was abandoned by my ex-wife and faced with recurring debt from marital expenses. This continued for 18 months due to courts being closed... because of the pandemic. I was denied access to my 2 sons prior to retaining Valeria. I was also caught up in my wages being garnished (over3k per mo.) for falsified claimed “back child support” from my ex-wife… when I was the one who had been abandoned. My ex-wife continued to call the police over 9 times over the course of 9 months. She had become a nuisance to the police. At one point, Mrs. Tomlin even had the officers subpoenaed to testify to the judge about my ex-wife’s bogus calls and claims. My ex-wife was trying to get an edge up in her position for the divorce that she had filed. My ex-wife had the police come to my home armed to seize my firearms while my teenage son and I was home. This alone was terrifying literally handing over firearms to an armed officer. My ex-wife jeopardized my security clearance as well which this entire divorce experience has truly impacted my life. The Outcome: • Judge saw it so I ended up with 100% custody of my 17 year old son and 40% custody of my 14 year old. I have joint legal custody. • The judge denied my ex-wife’s request for me to pay over 20k in attorney fees. • The judge denied my ex-wife’s request for alimony. • The judge silenced each and every witness that my ex-wife brought against me in court…judge gave none of them a chance to speak. • The judge threw out the bogus protective order filed by my wife because we had not even been in contact with each other for the time of the false protective order filing. • The judge gave me the marital residence. • The judge ordered my ex-wife to pay me back $4200 in overpaid child support that she garnished falsely. • My ex-wife was only able to obtain a small percentage of my retirement which was a formula used to calculate for the duration of the marriage. However, I had a reasonably large balance prior to my marriage so my ex-wife was not happy. This was a very difficult time in my life but Mrs. Tomlin’s calm voice, encouraging nudge, prayers, talks with my son, mentorship, advice, and professional yet firm position made this journey a testimony that I MUST share specifically with those who have good intentions and desire great legal representation. Valeria is awesome hands down. She turned my trial into triumph God used this young lady I tell ya!!!

Valeria Tomlin - Exceeded My Expectations

Attorney Tomlin was very professional and responsive throughout the process. In the beginning, I expressed my desired outcome, and she exceeded my expectations. The divorce process can be very stressful, and Ms. Tomlin’s calming spirit helped alleviate that stress and enabled me to focus on my dail...y routine. I highly recommend Ms. Tomlin; she is top-notch and will do her best to achieve a favorable outcome.

Unparalleled

Attorney Tomlin’s delivery in the courtroom is unparalleled. I was in a 10-year bizarre (loveless) marriage, with two young children, that had devolved into me being responsible for providing not only for the children, but for their father, as well. Through the course of the relationship, I discove...red the “ex” had lied about having academic degrees and having served in the US Military (and more). There came a time where the only jobs held he held were not only spotty and periodic, but they were also jobs I helped him obtain. I had homes, while he had video games. In court, it became clear that he intended to pay any ordered child support by gaining access to my retirement benefits, as well as any other additional assets I had acquired. While in court, with eyes full of tears, tiring under the weight of having to explain why what I had worked for should not be handed to a person who refused to financially contribute to his own household, the only thing remaining was the closing argument. Attorney Tomlin was persuasive, convincing, and savvy. Her superb delivery made heads turn. In the end, Attorney Tomlin secured a decision that kept my children and I from losing "any" assets - not one. I also received a child support order while the he/the other party had no job. Ten years later, I am so grateful that she represented me. I have gone to court unrepresented at least six times since that time and the same judge thoroughly understands my case, I believe, due to Attorney Tomlin's exceptional representation and delivery from years prior. Additionally, she was empathetic toward my financial situation and worked with me. She "brings it" like none other while standing on Godly principals.

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2024.

Commission Reprimand issued in MD, 2024

updated on 08/26/2024

Indefinite Suspension issued in MD, 2011

updated on 01/11/2017

Suspended indefinitely means an attorney lost his or her license to practice law for an unknown period of time. The attorney will need to re-apply for admission to the Bar if he or she intends to resume practice in the future.

Valeria’s comment:

“My suspension was unrelated to the practice of law and precipitated by another attorney NOT a client. I exercised poor judgment on one occasion and for that I was sanctioned. At NO point did I ever jeopardize my legal clients. As a result I have taken full responsibility for my actions. In October 2011 I agreed to a thirty day suspension and used that time to reflect. I now take two, 30-day admin periods each year to regroup and recharge to better serve my clients. I resumed in November 2011.”
