Before beginning a career as a defense litigation attorney, Elizabeth clerked on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. After her clerkship, she concentrated on insurance defense defending personal injury cases, toxic tort, asbestos, products liability, workers compensation, construction defects and ERISA matters. She also served as Assistant General Counsel to Harrah's New Orleans casino. In 1997, she formed her own law firm with representative clients such as Federal Express Corporation, St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance, Burger King and other corporate clients. She has tried cases in Federal and State courts, both judge and jury trials, obtaining several "zero" verdict for her defense clients.
In 2003, she was appointed Executive Counsel by the Louisiana Insurance Commissioner supervising a staff of attorneys and the fraud department. During her tenure, she personally led a fraud investigation and concurrent litigation against the largest bail bondsman in the United States who was responsible for writing over $41 million in one jurisdiction alone. The investigation involved massive document productions and a market conduct examination of two insurance companies. The federal investigation of the bail bondsman resulted in the RICO conviction of the bail bondsman, imprisonment of two state judges and the impeachment and removal of a federal judge from office.
Elizabeth's next career move was to Vice President & Sr. Corporate Counsel for a Fortune 500 BPO and outsourcing company where she was responsible for managing litigation involving employment, IT and BPO contracts, government contracts and bids, intellectual property, compliance and ethics issues. She spearheaded numerous internal investigations of great importance to the company. She was the company's first recipient of the General Counsel Award for Excellence in October 2007. Her next move was to serve as General Counsel to a growing healthcare company. In that role, she was responsible for handling all legal issues facing the company including but not limited to employment, contracts, compliance, litigation management, outside counsel supervision, electronic discovery, regulatory matters, HIPAA and workers compensation.
Elizabeth is an honors graduate of Howard University and Tulane University School of Law. She is licensed in Louisiana and Maryland.
