I'd rate less if I could

In 1998 I was faced with several criminal charges and due to a conflict with the multitude of others being represented for the same case I was tossed back to her only a few days before my court date. One five minute phone call and she was a no show at my court appearance. Needless to say this has fol...lowed me for over a decade. no thanks to my lawyer. I received a refund and the states attorney walked me through going the process during the hearing own my own, not that is mattered much. I'm only on here today because I i took a chance that I could get an expungment now that MD has changed the laws regarding possession. Too bad it doesn't apply to me.

didn't actually try to represent me

Agreed to take my divorce in a reduced fee basis through my local women's center because I was living below the poverty line and my husband had refused to tell me where my child was for 3 days. Rarely returned my calls, talked down to me, got upset with me for not filling out paperwork that she didn...'t give me and fussed at me for missing a mediation appointment that she never consulted me about, counseled me on nor told me about. Did not take any of my concerns or complaints about my abusive exhusband seriously but seemed to be fully aware of anything he said about me. I basically paid her to assist my ex get custody of my child and be charged child support that I could not pay on my income. If I sound bitter, it's because I am. I was 21 and trying to leave an abusive relationship and trusted her to help me. If she didn't want to take my charity case, she could have refused.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
