Get a new attorney. The other side's attorney can't talk with someone directly if they're represented by counsel.

Certainly it could. It depends on what the contract says and what was agreed to. You may want to have the contract reviewed by an attorney.

Contact the creditor and work out a lump sum payment or payment plan. Note that any forgiven debt may be considered taxable income to you.
