Provide legal support and advice to the Board of County Commissioners; Perform legal research, preparation and review of legal documents; Develop, present and defend professional recommendations and legal opinions on legal questions to elected, appointed officials and County staff; Try cases before administrative tribunals, District Court, Circuit Court, and Appellate Courts; Drafts and negotiates contracts with public and private companies; Drafts legislation, resolutions and ordinances; Acts as a liaison between Federal, State and local Governmental Agencies whose policies, laws, regulations and directives impact upon the department; Analyze technical performance reports, correspondence and contracts; Provide indirect supervision for department staff and direct supervision for mid-level department managers; Increase professional knowledge through attending workshops and conferences, participate in professional associations and activities and read professional and local publications.
