During my eighteen years as an attorney, I have practiced solely in the areas of criminal and family law because I feel it is very important to specialize one’s legal practice. An attorney must have extensive knowledge and experience in their specific areas of practice to do this job well. I remain committed to staying fully apprised of new laws that pertain to criminal and family law, as well as the rules of practice in each specific jurisdiction.

I have always been an active litigator. During a normal week, I am in court several times on several different kinds of matters. I am comfortable in the courtroom, but I am equally as comfortable negotiating directly with other attorneys and in settlement conferences. I believe I have an obligation to be truthful with you about the likely outcome of your case if you were take it to trial. If I advise you to attempt to settle your case rather than litigate, but you choose not to follow that advice, I will still be fully prepared to competently try your case before the judge.

When it comes to family law, the title “Attorney and Counselor at Law” makes sense. It is impossible for me to evaluate the legalities of your case, and its strengths and weaknesses, without knowing you on a personal level. Thus, I do provide counsel – both personal and legal – because it is necessary to do this job competently. Whether you are going through a divorce or contested custody or support matter, I understand that this is likely a difficult time in your life – just the fact that you made an appointment to see me indicates as such. I strive to make my office warm, inviting and personable because I realize what you are here to discuss is difficult enough – this should not be a place where you feel intimidated.
