I hired Ms. Washington after I received a reckless driving ticket. I was involved in an accident on October 14, 2013. I was hit by a tractor trailer. The driver said he did not run the lght. I was taken to the hospital after sustaining a compound fracture of my right femur, broken ribs, a laceration ...on my forehead, a major concussion, multiple bruises, and a hemotoma on my right forearm. I spent several days in the hospital. The state trooper finally met with me about four weeks later. He said the assistant commonwealth attorney told him to charge me with reckless driving since I had no memory of the accident. At that time, I was given a referral to Ms. Washington. My husband and I interviewed her and hired her to defend me. She met with me prior to my first court date. She communicated with the assistant commonwealth, trying to get her to at least reduce the charge to improper driving. The assistant commonwealth attorney refused so she advised me to go to trial. Ms. Washington met with me again prior to the trial date. At trial, the truck driver failed to show. At that time, Ms. Washington advised me not to testify. I took her advice. After all testimony was given, the judge talked about his familiarity with the intersection. Then he gave his ruling and found me not guilty. I feel that Ms. Washington did an excellent job defending me against this charge. She was professional, gave me good advice, and did her homework. She was really well prepared and one could tell she really cared about me as a client.

Marie took my divorce case after I had a previous attorney to settle my divorce and look out for my best interest. I must say that it was not easy for her to see what I had entered into with my ex-husband as it was clearly a one-sided divorce settlement, I am a very nice person. Ms. Washington handled a juvenile domestic case for me. I was acquainted with Ms. Washington on a semi-personal basis and really liked her straight forward, yet polite, personality. For this reason, I chose to consult with her when I found myself dealing with some confusing child custody issues. A...fter the first consultation with Ms. Washington, I knew if my situation grew to the point of needing an attorney, I would be hiring her. ( please note: my original divorce attorney was still practicing and still in town and I consulted with one other attorney before choosing Ms. Washington. Point being I did not choose her simply because I knew her well enough to speak.) Ultimately, I did need to retain Ms. Washington. She was honest and upfront about the expense my legal journey was going to cost. She did NOT milk every penny she could - even shared with me things I could do on my own in order to save charges from her office. She would return phone calls promptly and if she couldn't, someone from her office contacted me. Ms. Washington never made me feel uneducated, but explained the ways of the law in a manner I could understand. She also truly had my best interest at heart - she never painted a rosy picture of the situation, always helping me make the best decisions I could with the information I had at the time. She was sensitive to the impact the process could possibly have on other aspects of my life and monitored the situation - again with honesty, preparation and advice. I felt "guided," never "dragged" through the legal experience. Ms. Washington's talents did not stop in her office, however, she owned the court room. She is confident, diligent and pointed. She has a plan and intends to execute that plan without any hesitation. She is tenacious. That saying "though she is small, she is fierce" comes to mind. ( Ms. Washington is all of 5'3" - maybe!) In the end, the court ruled "in my favor." Ms. Washington called me once she knew the outcome. She took a few moments to "celebrate" with me and then immediately cautioned me that appeals could be filed. I would recommend Marie Washington to anyone for anything. I would hire her again in a heartbeat, ESPECIALLY if my life depended on it. One can feel secure having her in their corner.
