How long has your I-485 been pending? If it has been pending for more than 180 days, you can use the EAD to port to a new employer.
Is it legal for a F1-visa student to rent his/her apartment through sites such as Airbnb? Is it considered passive income?

Most leases have a clause providing for a credit in the amount of whatever was paid for the alternate housing, but I haven't seen any that also...
