Paul N King

Paul King is an attorney and a patent attorney with thirty-five years of experience in private and in-house law practice. He represents mainly pharmaceutical companies and large food companies with pharmaceutical products in the U.S. market. He is a Japan specialist with thirtyyears’ experience representing Japanese companies, mainly large corporations in technology industries, especially major pharmaceutical and food companies. His areas of practice include patent law, U.S. food and drug law and FDA regulations, Hatch-Waxman matters, legal patent infringement and validity opinions, due diligence analysis, trade and competition law, technology licensing and collaborative R&D agreements, patent infringement litigation analysis, and other areas of law related to the pharmaceutical industry.   

He practiced law in Japan for over eight years in the early 1980's and mid-1990's.  As a lawyer with a prominent Tokyo law firm, he assisted in representing large corporate Japanese clients of the firm.  He was then a senior international lawyer with Merck & Co. and an in-house lawyer and bucho (vice president) with Tanabe Seiyaku Co. Ltd in Osaka, managing the company’s U.S. and German patent infringement litigation over its billion dollar drug, diltiazem (Cardizem® in the U.S.).
