Marc Jason Eisenstein

Marc focuses his practice on criminal and civil litigation. His criminal defense practice includes defending individuals in all phases of litigation, from the initial investigation through trial and appeal. He has second-chaired two federal criminal jury trials and argued a novel issue in a criminal matter before the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Marc also represents individuals and companies in complex civil litigation and professionals before regulatory and licensing boards.

Marc has been listed as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in the area of white collar criminal defense.

Some of Marc’s representative criminal and civil matters include:

· Counsel to individual charged with government contracting fraud alleging theft of more than $8.4 million. Government sought 57 to 60 months imprisonment. Client sentenced to 6 months of home confinement.

· Counsel to executive of international procurement company charged with violating Iran sanctions laws and engaging in a multibillion-dollar fraud scheme. Case dismissed without a conviction.

· Counsel to plumbing company in lawsuit by union seeking contributions based on a theory of alter ego. Lawsuit was voluntarily dismissed by Plaintiffs prior to the close of discovery.

· Lead counsel for former law enforcement officer charged with distribution of steroids.

· Counsel to witnesses in numerous grand jury investigations, including matters involving marriage fraud, government contracting fraud, and money laundering.

· Counsel to former executive of home health care company in lawsuit alleging violations of the False Claims Act. Reached favorable settlement prior to the close of discovery.

Marc received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.S., cum laude, in Criminal Justice from Drexel University. He is a member of the bars of Maryland and the District of Columbia. During law school, Marc interned for The Honorable Sally D. Adkins of the Maryland Court of Appeals. He was also a member of the D.C. Street Law Clinic, where he taught a practical legal course at a public high school and in a number of community settings, including the Correctional Treatment Facility inside the D.C. Jail.

Marc is a member of the Federal Bar Association and on the board of the Northern Virginia Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. He has previously served as a mentor to the Georgetown Law Street Law class at the Incarcerated Youth Program. He is currently working with the Washington Lawyers’ Committee assisting federal inmates seeking compassionate release under the First Step Act of 2018.
