Intellectual property lawyer | Oct 21

Relationship: Family member

"Tom and I worked together at the U.S. Patent Office for about two years and I found him to be knowledgeable and personable. He was excellent at giving newer colleagues advice and always very professional. He continues to maintain relationships with many of his former USPTO colleagues. Since leaving the USPTO 10 years ago, Tom has worked in multiple areas of IP law. He also keeps abreast of changes in the law and has written articles and given talks on these as well. He puts a great deal of effort into his work and remains in contact with the office even while at home, making sure to check his messages first thing in the morning and several times during the evening. Tom enjoys fishing, naval history and is a former NCAA athlete (sailing.) He is married and lives with me (his wife) and our 4 small children in Alrington, VA."

He also received a master's degree in biotechnology from Johns Hopkins to supplement his undergraduate degree in science. He has worked in the prep and prosecution, opinion, and litigation fields and is a quick study."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
