About Robert H.D. Genders, Esq.:
I operate a specialized federal law practice focused on the federal tax, structuring, and multi-jurisdictional considerations that arise in complex real-estate, investment, and legacy-planning matters. My work centers on helping clients and their advisory teams navigate high-stakes decisions where federal law, timing, and structure materially impact outcomes.
Over the course of my career, I’ve developed broad, 360-degree experience across the real-estate lifecycle, including acquisitions, dispositions, investment structuring, exchange planning, fiduciary considerations, and long-term wealth strategy. I am particularly focused on the federal aspects of IRC §1031, §1033, and §721 transactions, as well as the federal reporting and compliance issues that accompany sophisticated real-estate and investment activity.
What distinguishes my practice is its intentional focus on the federal layer of transactions that often span multiple jurisdictions. I routinely work alongside attorneys, CPAs, fiduciaries, and family offices to ensure that federal tax and structural considerations are addressed early—before state-law execution begins—so that clients avoid costly mistakes and preserve flexibility.
In addition to my advisory work, I have spent years teaching and presenting nationally on federal exchange strategy, real-estate structuring, and multi-jurisdictional planning. I have delivered continuing legal education and professional education programs through organizations such as the Federal Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Florida Bar Association, working with attorneys and advisors across the East Coast and beyond.
My practice is licensed in Washington, D.C., and is limited to federal, multi-jurisdictional matters. State-specific legal issues are handled by licensed counsel in the applicable jurisdiction, allowing each professional involved to operate within their core competency while delivering a coordinated, client-focused result.
Clients and referral partners value my approach because it combines technical federal expertise, practical real-estate insight, and a calm, strategic perspective developed through years of hands-on experience. Whether advising on a single transaction or serving as part of a broader advisory team, my role is to bring clarity, structure, and confidence to decisions where federal law shapes the outcome.
For federal matters and national coordination, Genders Law & Legacy.

"Rob is very hard-working and knowledgeable in all areas of real estate title matters. I would recommend his title company for all Florida real estate closings."
"I eagerly recommend Robert Genders. I've enjoyed working with him on several transactions and his understanding about real estate is impressive. He is an attorney, realtor, and title agent. Those distinctive abilities allow him to understand the complexities of a real estate transaction where others often fail. He's quick to understand the issues as they pertain to his clients and relative economic environment. He is knowledgeable yet very personable. Robert deserves my highest endorsement."
