Biography
Randy has more than seven years of Intellectual Property (IP) Law experience backed by extensive industry experience with a focus on patent acquisition/prosecution for software, communications, electronics, computer hardware, real-time systems, medical device, and business method inventions.
Randy has experience experience in patent preparation and prosecution, M&A due diligence investigations, patent reissue, reexaminations, and preparing patentability, non-infringement and freedom to operate opinions.
He uses his extensive software engineering background to help clients obtain patent protection for their inventions. He prepares and prosecutes patent applications in a broad variety of technical fields including software, telecom, e-commerce, data security, computer graphics, and Internet applications. He has applied his technical background with significant work for clients in wireless communications, telecom, user interfaces, data security, data backup, databases, and healthcare records and reimbursement management tools, among many technologies.
In addition to his broad-base intellectual property background, Randy has extensive experience in all aspects of software development. He has worked as a Database Architect performing database design and development for a variety of clients, including the Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), state law enforcement agencies and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Additionally, he developed software for Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS) that enabled submission of state electronic fingerprint records to the FBI.
Randy has also worked as a management consultant and software developer for several large companies, including Booz Allen & Hamilton, PriceWaterhouse, Northrop Grumman Information Technology, and the Potomac Electric Power Company (PEPCo), in the areas of real-time systems, electric utility software, relational database management systems and telecommunications.
