Simply the BEST

Yurika was everything I could ever ask for in an attorney. Seriously....I can't think of anything she could have done better. My wife was in the country legally on a J-1 visa and we decided to get married and file a marriage-based adjustment of status (for a green card). It was painless the whole ...way through. Before even compensating or retaining Yurika, she literally answered each and every question I had regarding the process and even had the courtesy to look over our documents to confirm we had everything in order to file with USCIS. This played a huge part in us committing to be her clients. Her firm and paralegals are just as accommodating throughout the process. Ask anything, and they will give you clear and concise answers. We had our final interview last week to which Yurika prepared us for and even accompanied us to the interview with the USCIS officer present. My wife has since been approved and we are just waiting for the green card in the mail. Couldn't recommend her more if you're reading this post. As a plus, I shopped around beforehand, getting 4-5 quotes from immigration attorneys in the D.C. Area and Yurika's cost was the most reasonable; that, coupled with her highly rated reviews, you can't go wrong.

Could not recommend her more! Excellent attorney.

I cannot more whole heartedly recommend attorney Yurika Cooper for your immigration needs. My husband and I had what turned out to be a fairly complex marriage based petition, and what should have been a 6 month relationship with attorney Cooper stretched into 4.5 years. During the long delay our cas...e experienced (which, by the way, had nothing to do with Yurika's work - we experienced a long delay on USCIS' part) we not only were never charged more than the flat fee we had agreed to at the beginning of our case, but attorney Cooper continued to do whatever she could to push our case forward. Since we had to wait so long, again on a delay from USCIS, she eventually referred us to a litigator to file a lawsuit based on the delay. We liked attorney Cooper so much that we were genuinely terrified to leave her. As it turned out, we were eventually successful and the new attorney, who checked over everything that had been done before he came on, found that everything was complete and that she had done everything possible before recommending a lawsuit. As a client, I can tell you that Yurika is everything you want in a lawyer. She usually gets back to any email within 24 hours, and can usually set up calls within a few days. She is also open to office meetings. Anything that was mailed to her office was followed by an email saying that they received it, and she was prompt in getting things submitted. She also manages her own schedule, so you don't have to go through a gate keeper to get to her. In addition to being responsive, she has tremendous "bed side manner" and always takes time to chat and point out the positive aspects of your case. I know that bed side manner doesn't seem that important when you start a case, but if your case goes off the rails it will be incredibly important to you. Could not recommend her more, she literally saved my family.

Yurika helped us to successfully complete our immigration case!

First of all, I would like to thank all the people who took the time to write reviews of Yurika Cooper on this site. It was based on the reviews written by other people that my husband and I approached her to be our lawyer. It was our first time to ever hire a lawyer, and we expected what people us...ually expect of lawyers--someone who was always checking a watch, and billing us for every second of time. Instead, when we met with Yurika in person for the first time, we were delighted to find her so personable, her fee so reasonable, and her generosity with her time so unlimited that we had to pick our jaws up off the ground as soon as she left the room. Her support staff was also excellent and a pleasure to work with. After helping us launch and navigate our immigration case, Yurika joined my husband and I for our final immigration interview. It was scheduled for 7:45 a.m.--A.M!!!!--on the day of the start of a historic East Coast blizzard. She showed up to represent us without a peep of complaint, and with great reassurance that our case could be successful. Later that same day, we got a notice from immigration that my husband's change of status had been approved. Yurika genuinely loves her work, and carries it out from an old-fashioned desire to serve others rather than from a desire to line her own pocket through capitalizing from those who have acute immigration needs. We are proud to not only identify her as our lawyer, but also as the friend that she became to us through our immigration process.

made me loose a job!

Yurika made me loose a job. Instead of making me apply for a J1 waiver she suggested me to ask for an advisory letter to state department. I'm a citizen of Italy and she should have known that the only way to get rid of the two year rule on a J1 is to apply online for a waiver. I had a job offer at A...merican Chemical Society in Washington DC and lost it because she made me take a very long route that ended up in nothing but a response from state dept. saying that i have to apply for a waiver. After 2 months of wait my employer told me that i lost the job because they could not wait any longer for me to get a visa. She charged me a lot of money for nothing. Good job Yurika!

J-1 visa waivers can be very complex. The process of changing from a non-immigrant J-1 to a work visa can be very frustrating, and some people really want someone to yell at. This client had multiple and conflicting DS 2019s. The only way to determine if she was actually subject to INA 212e and needed a waiver was to request an advisory opinion from the Department of State. This is very well established as the best practice in this situation. Sometimes these take 4 weeks, sometimes 12 weeks. In this case it took 8 weeks. The processing times are clearly out of our control. Her program sponsor at the Department of Agriculture assured us that US government and foreign government funding was not involved. Additionally, the skills list was inapplicable to this client. Due to the conflicting forms and sponsor information, we could not determine whether the 2 year rule applied without requesting the advisory opinion. If the rule applied, we would then pursue the proper waiver. If the rule did not apply, the client would not need a waiver, thus saving thousands in legal fees and a less complicated process to change status. This client retained us to figure this out and the proper path was to initially obtain an Advisory Opinion from the US State Department. The advisory opinion was rendered on February 1, 2012 and contrary to her program sponsor’s assertions, this client was found to have actually received government financing. We explained this to her in February 2012 and offered to pursue the appropriate waiver. She declined to retain us for the waiver. By this point, the client became rude, abusive and simply mean to myself and to our staff. Over one year and ten months later, this former client now states that we should have skipped the Advisory Opinion process all together. I firmly stand by my contention that requesting the advisory opinion was the only appropriate first step in her waiver process.

Excellent attorney

We were introduced to Yurika through a friend which was very pleased with how Yurika had handled her case. Yurika quickly responded to my call and was very helpful even before we officially signed her up for our case. She's very knowledgeable, professional, helpful, trustworthy and overall made the p...rocess very straightforward. There might be a lot of lawyers that handle immigration issues but there are very few like Yurika! We would recommend her wholeheartedly
