Amy S Mushahwar

Amy Mushahwar practices in the telecommunications field, primarily in the areas of media, privacy, and emerging technologies. She has experience advising clients – which include telecommunications providers, broadcasters, and other business entities – with matters pending before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), U.S. Congress, and federal courts.

Amy represents media clients with regulatory issues spanning from media ownership to closed captioning, and from channel carriage negotiations to content regulations. She has particular experience in the regulation of vice speech over broadcast facilities and the Internet. Amy assists privacy clients with the development of risk management programs and counsels clients in the information technology industry with Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) regulatory compliance and the development of Service Legal Agreement (SLA) contracts.

Preceding her legal career, Amy spent several years as a technology consultant, where she performed network security design and implementation. From 1997 to 2001, Amy owned and operated her own technology consulting company.

While in law school, Amy served as an associate editor of the CommLaw Conspectus journal. She holds a specialized certificate in communications law from Catholic University’s Institute for Communications Law Studies where she won a national telecommunications law moot court competition.
