John D. Simmons

John D. Simmons concentrates his legal practice on intellectual property counseling and litigation, representing clients in patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters. His extensive experience includes appearances before federal courts across the country and administrative proceedings before the PTAB and TTAB. With a solid foundation in electrical engineering and experience as a professional engineer and expert witness, John offers clients practical, technically informed guidance. At Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel, LLP, he advises on IP strategy, asset procurement, licensing, and contentious disputes in fields ranging from software to medical devices. A former associate and patent agent at a leading global firm, John is admitted to practice before a range of state, federal, and appellate courts, as well as the USPTO. John earned his electrical engineering degree from Drexel University and his law degree, magna cum laude, from Temple University Beasley School of Law.
