OUTCOME: All cases dismissed
A client had previously accepted a plea in abeyance to 1 count of Violation of a Protective Order. One year into the probation, he was charged with 2 new cases. One case had 6 charges of Violation of ... a Protective Order and the other had 20 counts. He allegedly texted his ex about matters unrelated to their child. After, showing that the prosecution that any texts that were sent were related to the child, and that the client's now wife was the one communicating with the ex, the prosecution agreed there were no violations. All cases were dismissed

Client was charged with Displaying a Weapon in a Fight or Quarrel. He had been in a text argument with a former friend, when the individual showed up at Smith's home with another man wanting to fight ... Smith. The individuals began cursing outside the door, kicking and hitting the door, in an attmept to gain entry into the home. Smith, a single father of two children, feared for the saftey of himself and the children, obtained an AK-47 rifle from his gun cabinet. The door was opened and he ordered the two individuals to leave his property. One entered into the home, throwing an object at Smith, injuring him. He fired shots at the intruders, who then fled the scene. The state charged Smith based on the presence of the firearm. Smith pled "not guilty" to the charge and took his case to a jury.
