Over the course of a three-month trial, we succeeded in persuading the jury to spare the life of Mark Fregia, a man who set fire to his child's mother (wounding her terribly) and caused two children (o ... ne of whom was his own) to be burned to death before carjacking a good samaritan and getting high on drugs. Mr. Fregia was viewed locally as the "poster child" for the death penalty, and our win surprised everyone but us.
