VA Pension Effective Date Appeal

OUTCOME: Obtained $46,873 of additional VA pension benefits for a client.

Client was a WWII veteran who was wrongly denied for a non-service connected disability pension to help offset his long-term care expenses. I worked with him on a pro bono basis to establish a regular ... monthly pension award while simultaneously preparing an appeal to challenge the effective date of his pension to the time that he was initially denied. After two years of litigation, the administrative judge ruled our favor, and my client was granted $46,873 of additional pension benefits.
