Thomas J. Durling has more than 35 years experience handling business and intellectual property issues, with a focus on patent and trademark procurement, merger and acquisition due diligence, business agreement preparation and negotiation, intellectual property litigation and client counseling.

A registered patent attorney, Mr. Durling represents clients in patent matters before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, as well as manages their international portfolios and intellectual property-related litigation. Mr. Durling concentrates his patent practice in the mechanical engineering field, with direct experience in a number of technical areas, including large industrial equipment, flow measurement and measuring equipment, mobility vehicles, bicycle design and manufacturing, industrial and consumer packaging, molded plastic components, medical devices, sporting goods, printing equipment and wastewater treatment. Mr. Durling helps clients prepare and prosecute patent applications; performs patent infringement analysis, validity studies and right to use studies; and negotiates and prepares licenses and other agreements for clients across a wide range of industries and applications.

Mr. Durling represents and advises clients on a variety of business matters, including negotiation and preparation of manufacturing and supply agreements, executive and technical employment agreements, and marketing agreements. He also has experience counseling clients on copyright, trademark, trade secret and unfair competition issues.
