Katherine Schadler Jordan

Katherine Jordan is an associate in the Philadelphia office of Chamberlain Hrdlicka and a member of the firm's Tax Controversy and Litigation Group.  Ms. Jordan focuses her practice on representing clients in audits and administrative appeals before the Internal Revenue Service and in litigation in the United States Tax Court, United States District Courts and the United States Court of Federal Claims.  Ms. Jordan has experience in the following areas:

• § 183 hobby losses
• § 165 trade or business losses
• reacquisitions of real property under § 1038
• charitable donation deductions
• actions for award of administrative and litigation costs
• jeopardy levies
• IRA rollover contributions under § 408
• tax penalties
• fiduciary liability under the Federal priority statute
• innocent spouse relief
• collection due process (CDP) proceedings, appeals and Tax Court litigation

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Jordan clerked for the Honorable Joseph W. Nega of the United States Tax Court, where she drafted judicial opinions, bench opinions, and orders and decisions, conducted legal research on issues presented to the Tax Court on a wide variety of tax matters at both the individual and entity level, advised on opinions and side opinions scheduled for Court Conference, conducted pretrial conferences with parties to narrow issues for trial, and reviewed per curiam draft opinions written by all Tax Court judges in connection with later release.  Ms. Jordan began her career working for one of the Southeast's largest law firms in Charlotte, North Carolina where she advised clients on federal and state income tax and federal estate planning matters.
