Alfred Jonathon (AJ) Vogt, Esquire, joined the Law Offices of Jennifer J. Riley in 2021.
Attorney Vogt studied Mathematics and Economics while an undergraduate student at Duquesne University. During his studies, AJ worked with federal law enforcement investigating civil rights violations, and worked with victims of human trafficking in the Pittsburgh region, which is where he developed a passion for advocacy and the law.
Attorney Vogt continued his studies at Duquesne University School of Law, where he exceled in hands-on experiences. AJ was named a McGinley Public Service Law Fellow, served as the Executive Production Editor of Joule, and as the Pro Bono Coordinator of the Public Interest Law Association. AJ also became a certified legal intern for the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund where he counseled transgender individuals throughout the Name Change process.
During law school, Attorney Vogt served as the Vice President of the Appellate Moot Court Board, Duquesne’s nationally recognized appellate advocacy program. He competed in two national competitions, including the Thurgood Marshall Memorial Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C., where his team finished as semi-finalists. AJ enjoyed these opportunities to showcase his strength in oral advocacy and legal research and writing.
During his law school career, Attorney Vogt clerked for a Federal District Judge and for the City of Pittsburgh Department of Law. While there, he gained firsthand courtroom experience handling Right-to-Know Law appeals and assisted the federal litigation practice group with trials.
Upon graduation from Duquesne University School of Law, Attorney Vogt clerked on the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania for Justice Christine Donohue. This experience expanded his knowledge of law, uniquely refined his legal research and writing skills, and taught him the value in the practice of law in our Commonwealth. After his clerkship, Attorney Vogt continued to perfect his legal writing while working in Washington D.C. for a federal agency, where he drafted decisions for administrative law judges.
Currently, Attorney Vogt is an active member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He is also a member of the LGBT Rights Committee, was an executive production editor for Joule publication, author of Combating Human Trafficking Using Mathematics and was named co-editor of their newsletter, Open Court. This position provides Attorney Vogt a creative outlet for his legal writing, while also providing him the opportunity to give back to a community that he is passionate about serving.
AJ recently moved to the Greater Philadelphia area. In his free time AJ enjoys any outdoor activity (running, hiking, skiing), and when inside, he enjoys reading, baking, and spending time with friends and family.
