Highly recommended

Luanne is an excellent, knowledgeable, and easily approachable lawyer. My experience with her was in healthcare, and she has extensive knowledge and expertise to help guide you along the way. Her prices are reasonable, as compared to other lawyers. She responds very quickly, and her paralegal, Kendra..., is also very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend Luanne as your lawyer, especially in regards to healthcare!

Lazy, Dishonest, and Unethical

Ms. Leeds represented me at an institutional hearing at a large public university in Feb 2014. She and her assistant had at least two months to familiarize themselves with my case, relevant AAUP policies adopted by the university, AND specific university handbook policies and procedural rules related... to the hearing, only failing to do so. They didn't notice illicit tactics and gross procedural violations of the procedures committed by the university administration and/or by themselves prior to and during the hearing. Ms. Leeds acted unprofessional and seemed lost during the two-day hearing. She failed to use the second day in full (only 3 hours, versus 8-9 hours used by the administration on the first day) and effectively to make a case and point out the administration's illegitimate maneuvers and discriminative practices perpetrated on me over the course of the years leading up to my dismissal. She neglected to use the visual evidence and didn't utilize expert witnesses and implement her own strategies competently. When her fatal error was pointed out (she didn't know who was supposed to be doing the questioning of witnesses), she felt offended and threatened me and my faculty advocate to quit immediately, in the middle of the hearing, in a hostile manner. She also blamed the people who helped her understand the internal workings of the higher educational institution, after the hearing board dismissed my case; and, to everyone's surprise, she claimed she had an ample experience with institutional hearings on college campuses, contradicting her own confession. She did not give me clear instructions or advice regarding the next steps, immediately or in a timely manner, following the conclusion of the hearing. Ms. Leeds made me lose faith in the legal practitioners almost entirely. This review illustrates just a few things related to her professional malpractice and incompetence.

I am genuinely sorry that you did not get the decision in your case that we would have liked. With more than a decade of experience with these cases, I know what a blow a loss can be, and I believe your case had merit. But your memory of the events of four years ago has no basis in fact. I went to hearing well prepared, thoroughly versed in the facts and the law. And the outcome was disappointing, but I have discussed with you several times over the years why your case may have turned out as it did. I'm happy to do so again if you would like to contact me (online is not the proper forum to discuss your case). I've also explained that administrative law is quite different than civil law -- both procedurally and in the standard of proof. Perhaps a misunderstanding here is another reason that your perception is is as it is.. Regardless, I have never before had my ethics and abilities questioned by a client (or a colleague). So I hope you will contact me offline if you want to continue this discussion.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
