Colin James Beisel is an associate with Youman & Caputo. A former U.S. Army prosecutor, Beisel is a Philadelphia catastrophic injury attorney that has recovered, or helped recover, numerous seven and eight-figure settlements and verdicts that have helped his clients put their lives back together.
Over the years, Beisel has represented people and their families in some of the most significant, high-impact personal injury cases across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In 2022, Beisel received one of the largest medical malpractice judgments in Scranton, Pennsylvania, resulting in a $1.25 million award for his client. In 2020, Beisel was on a team that represented a young transgender woman who had been sexually assaulted at a juvenile residential center, which led to one of the largest sexual abuse settlements for a transgender person in the history of Pennsylvania. In 2019, in a premises liability action, Beisel helped recover a significant settlement on behalf of a young quadriplegic client.
In addition to his law practice with Youman & Caputo, Beisel serves as a Captain and Judge Advocate in the U.S. Army Reserve JAG Corps. Most recently, he served as a prosecutor for a 14,000 Soldier military police command. As a first-chair prosecutor, Beisel tried cases involving Soldier misconduct, including sexual assault, domestic violence, fraternization, and other military crimes. Beisel continues to serve as a prosecutor for a medical brigade, where he tries cases throughout the country.
Beisel is also active in the Philadelphia Bar and the medical-legal community. In 2016, Beisel was appointed as chair of the LGBT Rights Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association, the oldest association of lawyers in the United States. Beisel led the committee for three years, while also serving as the liaison to the Diversity in the Profession Committee of the bar. An advocate for patient safety, Beisel is regularly invited to speak at physician conferences, grand rounds, and medical schools to discuss issues of professional medical negligence, physician liability, and the civil justice system.
Beisel earned his undergraduate degree from John Carroll University, and thereafter earned his law degree from The University of Akron School of Law. While in law school, Beisel served as assistant editor of the law review and was a member of the nationally ranked Trial Team Honor Society. Beisel is also a graduate of the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center & School, Charlottesville, VA.

Excellent and caring lawyer!
I can't say enough about the help and caring that Colin provided our family. He is generally very kind and concerned for h...
"Colin is one of the most intelligent, hardest working attorneys I have had the pleasure to work with. Not only is his legal mind second to none, he is relentless fighting for his clients. I wouldn't expect anything less from an associate at Mclaughlin & Lauricella. Every client that I have referred to Colin have been extremely happy with his representation. I wholeheartedly endorse Colin and the Mclaughlin & Lauricella firm."
"I would highly recommend Colin. He is a motivated, organized, detail oriented, and aggressive attorney. He really takes the time to listen to clients, and puts their needs first. If you are looking for a responsive attorney, Colin in the man."
