Christopher Joseph Cabott

Christopher J. Cabott, Esq. is an entertainment, sports and media attorney, and National Football League player agent with Remick Cabott Law Offices and Zane Management. He received his B.A. from LaSalle Univ. (2001) and his J.D. from Widener Univ. School of Law (2005).

Cabott represents a variety of individuals and entities in the music, film, television, media, and sports industries. With specific attention to music, some of the clients that he has originated with the firm include Britton Shaw and Dominique Cohill of the Interscope recording group “iSquare,” E1 recording duo “Mook & Fair,” Robert Allen co-writer of Rihanna’s “Disturbia” and Chris Brown’s “Forever,” Darin Baker producer of Three 6 Mafia’s “Lolli Lolli,” Raymond Diaz producer of Birdman and Lil Wayne’s “Pop Bottles,” Big King producer of Omarion’s “Ice Box,” Josh Walker co-producer of Auburn’s “La La La,” Carlos Battey and Steven Battey co-writers of Flo-Rida’s “Sugar,” REO producer of Beyonce’s “Hello,” Anthony Jones producer of Keri Hilson’s “Do It,” Ken Lewis writer, producer and engineer on 52 Gold and Platinum records including Danity Kane’s “Damaged” and Kanye West’s “Heartless,” and Jimmy Rollins Entertainment Group, LLC; co-publisher of Snoop Dogg’s “Sexual Eruption” and Sean Kingston & Justin Bieber’s “Eenie Meenie.” Cabott is the co-founder of the Zane Management Entertainment Workshops; a series of seminars that teach entertainment entrepreneurs the fundamentals of intellectual property, reducing business liability, contract negotiation, royalty management, and power networking skills. The workshops were most recently held in association with representatives from G-Unit Records, Atlantic Records, Warner Music Group, E1, MTV, Cherry Lane Music Publishing, Universal Music Group, Jive Records, EMI Music Publishing, Warner/Chappell Music, Epic Records and Sony/ATV Music Publishing.

Cabott represents a number of athletes as an agent. His present and retired clients include RJ Archer (QB/Minnesota Vikings), Chase Turner (P/Chicago Bears), Darrell Blackman (RB/Green Bay Packers); Rory Thomas (G/Detroit Lions); Deric Yaussi (K/Buffalo Bills); Bobby Kelsey (P/Philadelphia Eagles), Tim Duff (C/L.A. Angels Organization), Brandian Ross (CB/2011 NFL Draft) and Aaron Bates (P/2011 NFL Draft). Cabott is counsel to Jimmy Rollins (SS/Philadelphia Phillies) and consults to the Professional Bull Riders, Playboy Enterprises, Inc., and Richard Hamilton (F/Detroit Pistons) regarding philanthropic, media and marketing matters. Cabott has also originated a number of media clients for the firm, including Jennifer Carroll (Bravo’s Top Chef), Dina Manzo (Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New Jersey), Kristen Bitting (CBS’s Big Brother), Lynn Doyle (Comcast’s It’s Your Call with Lynn Doyle), Reid Rosenthal (ABC’s The Bachelorette), Dana Herbert (TLC’s Next Great Baker and Cake Boss) and Brian Cavallaro (Director of Creative for Mandt. Bros Productions, producers of Toughest Sports Jobs with Junior Seau (Versus), Rome is Burning (ESPN), Ice Brigade (Food Network), Next Stop for Charlie (Showtime), etc.). Cabott was counsel to the following feature-length films, all of which received distribution deals: In Plain Site (Ball Four Productions, Inc.), No Boundaries (No Boundaries, LLC) and Hooking Up (Cluster The Movie, LLC). He is also counsel to award-winning director Rel Dowdell, whose first feature length film, Changing the Game, is currently in the final stages of post-production.

Cabott is an adjunct professor at York College where he teaches Copyright, Music Publishing and Music Licensing. He is also an adjunct instructor at Temple University’s Fox School of Business, where he teaches Entertainment Law and Sports Law. He writes a column in Foundation Magazine about the business and legal issues of the music industry and is frequently published in Philadelphia Lawyer Magazine about entertainment and sports issues. Cabott is the co-author of Keeping Out the Little Guy: An Older Contract Advisor’s Concern, a Younger Contract Advisor’s Lament, 12 Vill. Sports & Ent. L.J. 1. He speaks at conferences throughout the country on various and sundry entertainment, sports and media issues. Cabott recently co-authored a chapter in a sports marketing textbook on the “Legal Issues Involved with Sports Marketing,” which is scheduled for publication in the fall of 2011.

Cabott was recently honored as a 2010 “Rising Star” by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers; the sole honoree in the category of entertainment and sports. He is also the reigning Widener University School of Law “Young Alumnus of the Year.” While in law school, he captained the winning team at the 2005 National Sports Law Moot Court Competition in New Orleans, Louisiana and was named the competition’s Outstanding Oral Advocate.
