Amy F. Steerman

Amy Steerman has been our attorney for over ten years. We met her through a number of members of our parish church. Our first contact was with the preparation of wills, health power of attorney and legal power of attorney for my partner and myself prior to our marriage. She helped us establish an... irrevocable trust for both of us. As the years have passed she has helped update our wills. When my brother was in the hospital in critical condition she came to the hospital and created a power of attorney for him. To ensure the validity of the power Amy had the attending Doctor sign as a witness. I say this to show that Amy is thorough in all of her processes. I had a very complicated ownership of a property with my two brothers. As they each passed away Amy assisted in determining the tax owed to the government in each case. She assisted in all the paperwork required by the government in their deaths. Later when we sold the property she assisted with the settlement (representing both buyer, who was a close friend of ours, and seller). She also assisted in determining the federal tax to be paid. My father lived in Florida and as his health declined we decided that we needed an attorney in Florida to assist in legal situations. Amy researched and validated his credentials. We were very pleased with her recommendation. We had a property in Philadelphia with a very difficult and combative tenant. When we decided to sell the property we asked Amy to represent us and handle the request for him to move as we did not want to have any contact with him. She gave him notice to move and informed him that he was not to contact us and any questions (of which there were many) be directed only to her. We were extremely pleased with a situation that we had been dreading for a number of years. My partner was the executor of a will for a close friend. The will was extremely complicated involving the sale of a big property, funding a trust created by a bank, the distribution of funds to four individuals which included prepaying the inheritance tax for each person. Amy was indispensable in that process. In order to save some money and because it was not in Philadelphia but Montgomery County it was her opinion that he could process most of the requirements himself. When items such as the amount of tax for prepayment et cetera arose Amy provided the answers. She assisted in many other complicated and required procedures that filing a will requires. She recommended a tax accountant for preparing a tax report for the current year and several tax reports that were due in the several years to follow as well as the final tax report. Again, her referral was excellent. Amy has a way of explaining legal issues clearly for the layperson and she is always available to answer a question. I want to add that she does not follow the practice of billing for 30-second increments and will talk and offer advice without billing for every event. We have recommended her to a number of close friends and without exception, they have been extremely pleased with her service. We trust her without exception and to show this trust we have requested her to be the executrix of our wills. We highly recommend Amy Steerman.
