OUTCOME: Trial court ruled AB 962 unconstitutionally vague on its face and enjoined its enforcement . State appealed. Appellate court agreed in a landmark decision. The CA Supreme Court has accepted review and should decide the case by early 2015.

OUTCOME: Won on appeal but Attorney General is seeking to intervene
Lawsuit challenging San Diego's strict "good cause" requirements for obtaining a license to carry a firearm. This case of first impression addresses whether the right to bear arms includes a right to ... carry a handgun in public. It also alleges favoritism by the San Diego Sheriff in issuing carry licenses on Equal Protection grounds. The opinion at district court in this case was the first to recognize a right to carry a firearm outside the home but did not grant plaintiffs the relief they sought, licenses to carry.
OUTCOME: Resulted in a favorable published decision on intervention standards (266 F.R.D. 369 (2010).) And won on merits via summary judgment.
