A. Robert Degen

I attended SUNY Maritime College and on graduation received a BS degree in Marine Transportation, a USCG Third Mates license and a USNR Comission.  I sailed in the US Merchant Marine as a ship's officer for three years before attending law school at American University.  From 1975 to 1995 I was with a boutique admiralty law firm and from 1995 t0 2011 with a large   general practice firm.  I have handled all types of maritime matters including collision, stranding, cargo damage, pollution, charter-party disputes, ship arrests, personal injury, USCG hearings and maritime security issues.  Since 1987, I have handled business related immigration matters including H, L, O, E, P and R nonimmigrant visas as well as EB-1, EB-2 and EB-3 and EB-5 immigrant/permanent resident visas.  I have also handled family immigration matters for immediate relatives, naturalization, student and exchange visitor visas and I-9 workplace compliance.  Since 2002, I have represented a 501(c)(6) non-profit trade organization in business matters including recently federal grant management compliance.
