Defendant was charged with Burglary (F3) and Theft of a Firearm (F3). The State alleged that the Defendant was involved in a burglary of a home with two Co-Defendants, and that among other items stole ... n from the home, a firearm was taken. The Defendant denied even being present for the burglary, and provided an alibi that he was at work several hours away. At Trial, the State called four witnesses, including the victim of the burglary, the investigating officer, and the two Co-Defendants, who had each been offered plea deals with reduced sentences in exchange for their testimony against the Defendant, while the Defendant called his two co-workers as alibi witnesses. The Defendant opted not to testify on his own behalf. The Trial took a day and a half to present to the Jury, and after several hours of deliberation by the jury, they returned a verdict: Not Guilty on all Counts.
