Kent ghosted me

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with this attorney. I contacted him regarding a time-sensitive guardianship matter involving my two minor siblings following the death of our father. We spoke by phone, and afterward he specifically asked me to send our contact information and the inform...ation for our Florida attorney so that he could prepare an engagement agreement. I provided everything requested, including detailed background information, and made clear that we were ready to move forward. After that, communication essentially stopped. I followed up multiple times, including specifically asking whether he was still willing to represent us and whether he needed anything further from me, and received no response. I completely understand that attorneys are busy and that a firm may ultimately decide it does not have the capacity to take a case. What I do not understand is leaving a prospective client believing representation is moving forward and then simply not communicating, especially when the matter involves two minors who recently lost their parent and whose guardianship and stability are time-sensitive. Had I been told that he could no longer assist us, I would have understood and immediately looked elsewhere. Instead, valuable time was lost waiting for an engagement agreement and responses that never came. A simple email saying, “I’m sorry, but I’m unable to take this matter” would have been basic professional courtesy. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this office.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
