I represented a mother who had her children removes from her care for trumped up allegations by DHS. After a two-day trial, the court ordered the children returned over DHS' strenuous objection.
OUTCOME: Dismissal
My client was accused of failing to protect hr high needs child from sex abuse. Initially, the child was removed from my client's care, but I was able to get the child returned within a week over DHS' ... objection. At trial, the court found that my client was a threat of harm to the child. Not satisfied with this, we appealed and the state conceded that I was right and the court of appeals dismissed the case.
OUTCOME: Dismissal
Successfully argued for and obtained the dismissal of a juvenile dependency case because DHS failed to meet their statutory obligations to reunify the family. After 100 days in foster care, the childr ... en were returned to my client.
OUTCOME: Child was placed with my client
Represented Father in a juvenile dependency case. I was able to convince the judge and DHS to place the child with my client over the objections of Mother, Grandmother and the child's attorney. Fathe ... r worked hard for over a year to be reunited with his son and even though there can be favoritism toward mothers in these cases, the judge agreed that Father was the best placement for his child.
