Bernard Walter is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum limited to attorneys who have won jury verdicts of more than $1,000,000. Also, he is listed in Martindale-Hubbell's Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers AV, "the highest possible peer review rating in legal ability and ethical standards. The Pennsylvania Bar Foundation has awarded Bernard its Pro Bono Publico Certificate of Achievement.
He founded the legal side of the Free Back Mountain Medical/Legal Clinic called Doctors and Lawyers at Your Service. This is a place where 6 dedicated attorneys and several outstanding physicians serve the needs of the Friday evening visitors with the help of nurses and reception volunteers.
Bernard Walter also founded and is the current co-chairman of the Elder Law Committee of the Luzerne County Bar Association. This committee focuses on anticipating and meeting the needs of the County's enormous percentage of elderly residents, second only nationwide to Wade County in Florida.
Service is delivered both directly to elders and their families and indirectly by educating attorneys about changing laws, high risk factors, and available resources to enhance their ability to meet the needs of their elderly clients at modest costs.
