A condominium unit owner claimed to have fallen on hard times and stopped paying his regular assessments (often called "monthly dues"), which were approximately $1,400 per month. When the condominium ... association hired me, the account was already more than $20,000 in arrears and was also in mortgage foreclosure. After filing a separate action for lien foreclosure and taking the case to within 24 hours of a foreclosure sale, the unit owner paid the amount due in full. This case demonstrates the importance of asserting your condominium association's rights aggressively; often, the unit owner professing poverty is able to pay, but just prefers not to.
