Offensive

I used this lawyer for a closing on a commercial property as a buyer. I found out shortly post-closing from one of my tenants that the seller's attorney had not included their total security deposit on the closing statement and the seller thusly hadn't transferred that security deposit to me. My te...nant said there had been no correspondence from their previous landlord, the seller, as to why any of their security deposit would be deducted or unaccounted for. The tenant was very upset. The previous landlord, the seller, had requested that I not speak to any of the tenants before the closing, so I felt like I and my tenant had been taken advantage of by the seller keeping some of the security money. I emailed Mr. Schloesser very shortly after the closing and indicated to him that there had been a mistake on my closing statement, and that the seller couldn't just keep the tenant's security deposit without documenting it, that it wasn't legal. I asked him to address this immediately with the seller's attorney as a mistake on my closing statement. This was the gist of Attorney Schloesser's response to me in an actual email: This was between the tenant and the previous landlord, and "if that's the approach you are going to take then go elsewhere." Quote unquote. I was extremely shocked at the rudeness and offensiveness of this statement, in fact I couldn't even believe it, as this was supposed to be my lawyer who was supposed to come to bat FOR ME?. This was my second transaction with Mr. Schloesser. His refusal to even address the seller's attorney (another attorney is his town a block away) about the mistake on the closing statement was shocking. His politeness and respect level in his way of speaking to me, his client, left a lot to be desired. It was upsetting because I had paid him to handle my affairs. Needless to say, after receiving that email, I certainly did "go elsewhere". This was the rudest attorney I have ever encountered in the 27 years I had been a commercial landlord. If you expect being spoken to with politeness and respect as a paying client, you may want to "go elsewhere".
