Taxicab on Pedestrian Crash
May 12, 2015OUTCOME: Verdict: $897,740.81 ($500,000 in punitive damages)
A taxicab struck our client in a marked crosswalk. Our investigation revealed that there was no way the driver should have been driving the cab based on past driving record and violent criminal history ... . The cab company never bothered to look into the driver's prior employment or commercial driving experience or criminal background. In May 2015, Shannon Law Group tried the case, convincing the jury that the cab company was not only negligent, but wantonly disregarded public safety by putting a grossly unqualified and dangerous driver behind the wheel of its cab. The jury awarded our client $500,000 in punitive damages to deter such conduct in the future, in addition to a substantial compensatory award for our client's injuries, recovery, lost work, and pain and suffering.
