Mr. Griffitts represented the Defendant on an assault and battery charge in Spotsylvania County. The matter was initiated by a citizen complaint, where the complaining witness, not a law enforcement of ... ficer, made a statement of probable cause to a magistrate to issue a warrant for arrest. Defendant maintained his total innocence throughout the pendency of the case. On the court date, a trial on the merits was held in the Spotsylvania County General District Court. Mr. Griffitts cross-examined both the complaining witness and another witness for the Commonwealth, a disgruntled former employee of the Defendant, pointing out inconsistencies in their testimonies and highlighting the lack of any other corroborating evidence. The court returned a not guilty verdict.
