Got a traffic citation that came about a month after I got into a rear-end accident. After my insurance accepted the liability and I got my car taken care of, I was hoping I could be done with it and move on, but unfortunately it was not over. When it appeared on court records, I got something in the... mail advertising the firm. I knew that with minor traffic offenses, I could show up to my hearing and chances are the officer has a plea offer ready. I just wanted to negotiate the offense down to something that wouldn't give me points on my driving record, as my understanding was unless a traffic offense was criminal, the standard of proof required is low such that winning at trial was difficult. But with an accident there was more at stake. After reading anecdotes that an accident forgiveness benefit I earned from my insurer can be voided if there was a citation in the past 5 years, even if it was issued in conjunction with the accident (what's the point of claiming "even if at fault"), I really began to grow concerned. Ms. Draklan was upfront that the judge assigned to my case was a difficult one, sometimes known not to accept an plea offer even when the officer consented to it. Rates are on the relatively affordable side, but there is no money back guarantee should a more favorable outcome be unachievable. It gave me second thought about whether it was worth wagering the fee, but it helped to think about it from my perspective as a health provider, where I don't offer patients a money back guarantee for treatment completed if it ultimately doesn't work out due to inherent risks. On the hearing date, I experienced the rare occurrence of the officer not showing up. Court called the agency and it was clear the agency screwed up in not making the officer aware of the hearing. With no possibility of the officer attending, Ms. Draklan argued to have the case dismissed, but I got to see the judge being difficult when they wanted to grant a continuance. Ms. Draklan explained to me the options I had, and was ultimately able to negotiate with the judge to accept a zero point plea offer if another officer from the agency could consent, so that the case could be done with and I could move on from this. While we didn't win what should have been the ideal outcome, at the end of the day I still got what I was hoping for going in, so it was still a win.

i had 5 citations and 8 points for i minor fender bender.
