Defendants were importing counterfeit vaporizers (a type of e-cigarettes) into the Detroit Metropolitan Airport. Our law firm previously recorded Atmos Nation's (d/b/a Atmos RX) intellectual property w ... ith Customs and Border Protection ("CBP"). Accordingly, CBP recognized the products as being potentially counterfeit and contacted the undersigned for a determination. After a detailed analysis by Atmos Nation's Engineer it was conclusively determined that the imported products were in fact counterfeit. Accordingly, CBP seized the goods and preserved the evidence. After the seizure, I filed a Federal Court Lawsuit in the Eastern District of Michigan. Ultimately, the Court awarded a default judgment of $600,000.00 for my client. Upon information and belief, this is a precedent setting case for vaporizers and demonstrates the willingness of the judiciary to punish importers of counterfeit goods.
