OUTCOME: Not Guilty at Jury Trial

Client was accused of receiving two stolen vehicles, both motorcycles. For one of the two motorcycles, the client was seen taking the motorcycle from the porch of the owner on a surveillance video at ... around 6 am about one month prior to police finding that motorcycle at the client's home. The client had a version of events that would suggest he was not guilty. When that version was presented to the jury, the client was exonerated and sent home with a not guilty verdict. The other count was dismissed at trial.

When my representation of the client began, he was charged with 23 felonies, 21 carrying a mandatory life sentence. At trial, the D.A. reduced the 23 charges to seven , all carrying a mandatory life s ... entence. When trial began, client was facing 165 years to life in prison. The D.A. indicated before trial that they would accept a plea agreement that resulted in a 25 year commitment in state prison. After trial, my client was acquitted of 6 of the 7 charges, pled to a reduced charge, was given credit for time served and sent home.
