He experienced a sudden an ... d intense burning in his mouth, on his tongue, and down his esophagus into his stomach. He soon began convulsing, hyperventilating, and violently vomiting before Henderson Fire Department arrived to the scene. Dr. Enwright suffered permanent nerve and tissue damage, and will have a lifelong burning sensation in his tongue as well as ulcers in his esophagus.

Mr. Farmer passed away from asphyxiation.

Principal Holly Lepisto and teacher Sarah Hopkins were taken into custody during school hours along with classroom aides Phyllis DuShane and Kathryn Cummings in November 2010. According to court doc ... uments, at least three of the defendants were accused of administering physical punishment on several special needs students, which included “flicking” the students in the mouth and “bopping them in the face.” Additionally, defendants Hopkins, Dushane and Cummings were accused of using their hands to push and shove or forcibly make the children sit back in their seats. Court documents claimed that Principal Lepisto covered up, ratified and allowed the abuse to continue until she was arrested by police. Attorneys for the plaintiffs also maintain the school district had an inadequate training program, while the district’s policies were deliberately indifferent to the rights of the students and caused them to be repeatedly abused. All four women were originally arrested on charges ranging from five counts of child abuse/neglect and one count of conspiracy to commit a crime before the case began to unravel Lepisto saw the case against her dismissed in August 2012. She now works for the district as principal at Tonopah’s middle and elementary schools. Hopkins pleaded no contest to four misdemeanor counts of coercion in District Court, and returned to work within the district in late 2013. Cummings saw the case against her dropped in 2011. DuShane pleaded guilty to a simple misdemeanor battery charge in December 2010; she was given 150 hours of community service. The case against the four educators became public in October 2010, when former teacher’s aide Tammy Schoeck filed an incident report with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office after supposedly witnessing several alleged incidents of abuse between Hopkins and two of her students.

Gibson suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, and his mental condition had deteriorated in the weeks before the shooting. Lost, the Gulf War veteran drove into the apartment complex near his home and was circling the parking lot when officers arrived and boxed his Cadillac between two patrol cars. Gibson refused to get out of the car.

Police said Cole made a “furtive movement” toward Yant when the detective kicked open a bathroom door and found Cole allegedly flushing marijuana down the toilet. The raid on the apartment June 11, 2010, was conducted after Cole allegedly sold 1/8 ounce of marijuana to an undercover officer, which was captured on videotape by Langley Productions as part of a reality series.

Berry, 31, a corrections officer from Minnesota, and his 32-year-old cousin, Suggs, who works for a pharmaceutical company in Kentucky, accused Metro officers of fabricating charges in retaliation for ... a fight May 23, 1997, with several off-duty cops at the now-defunct Drink nightclub. Officers who responded to the nightclub to break up the fight refused to arrest Berry, citing a lack of evidence. Police filed charges against Berry several weeks later, charging him with battery with a deadly weapon. The charges were later dropped, but a detective re-entered Berry's name in a database that could have had him arrested on the same charges. One of the officers received a written reprimand as a result of the incident, but it's unclear if the others were disciplined.
